Why we don't share our oil – and others do.

Warum wir unser Öl nicht teilen – und andere schon.

What many people don’t know: How does the pressing process actually work?

There's a practice in olive harvesting that hardly anyone knows about: Many small olive farmers bring their harvest to a central mill or press. It sounds sensible at first – but then something begins that we view critically:

  • Several harvests end up in the same tank.
  • What is bottled in the end is often a hodgepodge.

In the end you get oil – but no one can say which olives are really in it .

Why this is problematic

This system brings quantity over quality .

  • No overview of the varieties.
  • No traceability to individual harvest.
  • Less control over taste and quality.

Our approach: Everything from a single source

At Sarmakinas, we do things differently. We bring our own olives to the mill. And we store the oil exclusively in our own stainless steel tanks . This ensures our oil remains pure, controlled, and honest – from harvest to bottle.

Why your own tanks make the difference

  • Only our oil goes into the tank – nothing is mixed.
  • Full control over taste, freshness and quality.
  • Real character that doesn't get lost.

What this means for you

When you open Sarmakina's oil, you can be sure: what's inside comes directly from our groves, our harvest, our handiwork .

Nothing else. No blender. No bulk oil.

Our promise

Responsibility bottle by bottle.
